During my recent visit to the Paris Maisons et Objet last September, it was clearly evident that gold accents were still a hot trend across all categories of interior design. Having said that, it might be a bit intimidating to introduce gold accents to your interior as you may be afraid of not achieving the right amount of glitz and ending up with a tacky and old-fashioned result. What a nightmare that would turn out to be! I think twice before adding gold accessories to my home and before I do, I try to follow 2 steps: Firstly, I choose sleek, elegant gold accessories and secondly, I pair them with minimalist furniture pieces to create a light, sophisticated atmosphere. I try to avoid excessively detailed items that would clash with the already strong bling of the gold color. 1 – SIDE TABLES WITH GOLD METAL STRUCTURE FROM ZARA HOME: Zara Home is one of the shops that I regularly visit before making a purchase. Zara Home’s prices are affordable, and quality never disappoints. Additionally, they always follow current trends and styles and regularly launch new collections (A bonus: their stores smell good!). I have selected these side tables because they are simply beautiful and can easily brighten up any space. Plus, marble and glass work perfectly well with gold metal. Table 1 is priced at 99 €. 2 – MIRROR WITH GOLD MOULDING FROM MAISONS DU MONDE: This Altesse mirror is perfect for creating a classic style when placed on top of a fireplace or a sideboard. The level of detailing seen in the gold molding gives this mirror a vintage-y look. Pair it with minimalist furniture for a modern contrast. Size is: 77X 120cm. Priced at: 140 €.
3 – GOLD EFFECT TRAY FROM LAURA ASHLEY: I like how the geometric detailed edging adds a touch of sophistication to this tray. The mirrored base brings another layer for a luxurious finish. 4 – LEOPARD DRAWER PULL FROM LAURA ASHLEY: I love drawer knobs and this set is one of the most beautiful I have seen lately. The leopard printed on ceramic is the ultimate accent detail that can, without a doubt, transform a sideboard, cabinet or a set of drawers. The set of 4 is priced at: 22.68 € (Currently on sale).
5 – DUBAI PENDANT LIGHT WITH GOLD METAL AND RHINESTONE FROM MAISONS DU MONDE: If you don’t mind a bit of bling, then this pendant light is perfect for you. It provides sophistication with class. It looks luxurious but not over the top. Pair it with wooden furniture as shown on Maisons du monde styling to tone down its glitzy side. Priced at: 119.90 €.

8 – GOLD FINISHED TILES FROM FIRED EARTH: These tiles are highly decorative and exist in different shapes: arabesque and subway (Subway tiles are my all-time favorites). While these tiles may not be cheap, they are perfect for making a bold statement. These tiles look unique and contain a meticulous level of detailing that would maintain style and timelessness. Priced at: £149.43 per m2.
9 – HASHTAG BOOKENDS FROM WILLA ARLO INTERIORS: I think these bookends look cool and modern. Sometimes bookends can be old-fashioned. Made from 100% ceramic, each handcrafted piece showcases a hashtag silhouette and boasts a gold finish. A set of 2 is priced at $38.99.
10 – DECORATIVE PATTERNED CUSHIONS FROM RIVER ISLAND: River Island (One of my favorite brands) launched, last year, a homeware collection that feels unique and sophisticated while still fairly priced. If you are like me and you are not so keen on applying bold statements with striking wallpapers or upholsteries, you could take a calculated risk with patterned accent details such as cushions. Pair them with minimalist plaids and layers of plain cushions to create a nice contrast. Priced at 25 € each.
